Technology applied to fashion becomes highlight of Madrid fashion week

MADRID, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Technology applied to fashion became a highlight of the show at the 69th edition of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid (MBFWM) which ended on Tuesday.

Spain's top designers presented their designs for next winter during the week.

"The future of fashion is in technology and innovation, to apply the tendency in an organic and not invasive way and to make people's lives easier," designer Constanza Mas told Xinhua.

The past week has seen over 50,000 audience enjoy over 50 catwalk presentations. Those attending were able to enjoy the traditional displays by well-known designers such as Pedro del Hierro, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. It also showcased up and coming talent such as Constanza Mas and Teresa Helbig.

"Bit by bit Spain is growing in importance in international fashion and we hope that it continues like this," commented design student Beatriz Barrio, while young designer Lorenzo Martinez considered that the 69th edition of MBFWM had seen collections which "had taken risks and allow us to draw inspiration."

The 70th edition of the MBFWM will be held in July when people attending it will be able to see designs for the spring and summer of 2020.
