JUBA, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- South Sudan peace monitors on Wednesday called on all the parties to the revitalized peace agreement to end hostilities in the border town of Yei, where military build-up has been reported.

In a statement issued in Juba, the reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission, said it had received various reports of armed operation in the southwestern parts of South Sudan, adding that all parties must silence the guns.

The peace monitoring body noted that a peace agreement, which was signed in September last year and is in a critical implementation phase, has brought normalcy to the world's youngest republic after five years of civil strife.

They urged all parties to grasp firmly the Intergovernmental Authority on Development led diplomatic process and allow the full implementation of the peace agreement.

"Likewise, that the ceasefire has been largely holding is a great credit to all its signatories, and we urge that this continues. The silencing of guns is a matter of high national importance," said the monitors.
