KHARTOUM, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Wednesday said Sudan is about to overcome the current challenges and crisis, vowing that 2019 would be a year for youths, official SUNA news agency reported.
Bashir made the remarks during a meeting with the youths secretariat of the ruling National Congress Party in Khartoum, reiterating his concern with the issues of youths.
"The year 2019 will be for youths," he said.
Bashir pointed out that 2019 would see the implementation of further ambitious projects for the stability and excellence of the Sudanese youths in various fields.
Since Dec. 19, various areas in Sudan, including Khartoum, have been witnessing popular protests over the deteriorating economic conditions and price hikes of basic commodities.
According to government statistics, at least 30 people have been killed during the protests.
