Gov't forces operation kills 8 militants in S. Afghanistan

QALAT, Afghanistan, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- At least eight militants loyal to the Taliban group were killed and two others wounded, following Afghan forces operation in southern Zabul province, an official said on Monday.

The offensive, launched in Mizan district of the province on Sunday, resulted in the death of eight Taliban fighters and injury of two others, army spokesman in the province Ahmad Sadeq Marastyal said.

The Taliban militants have not commented on the report.
