HANOI, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam is likely to make tra fish export turnovers of 2.4 billion U.S. dollars this year, up from 2.3 billion U.S. dollars last year, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers said on Monday.

The turnovers are achievable due to many positive factors, including China's increasing demand for tra fish and lower tariffs in European markets, according to the association.

Last year, the United States was Vietnam's largest importer of tra fish with 549 million U.S. dollars, up 60 percent on-year, followed by China with 529 million U.S. dollars, up 29 percent, and the European Union with 244 million U.S. dollars, up 20 percent, said the association.

Vietnam earned over 8.8 billion U.S. dollars from exporting seafood in 2018, mainly prawns and catfish, posting a year-on-year increase of 6.3 percent, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
