TASHKENT, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan's Defense Minister Abdusalom Azizov has been appointed chairman of the National Security Service, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's press office said Monday.
Azizov has been working as defense minister since September 2017.
Ihtiyor Abdullaev, who served as chairman of the National Security Service, was relieved of his post due to deteriorating health conditions, the office said.
Bakhodir Kurbanov, previously head of the Tashkent military district, has been appointed as new defense minister.
