TRIPOLI, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Air force of the eastern-based Libyan army on Monday announced targeting militants of the Chadian opposition in southern Libya for the third time in less than two weeks.

"Fighter jets of our air force targeted gatherings of the Chadian opposition gangs near Murzuk (some 900 km south of the capital Tripoli)," said the army's information department.

No details were provided about the losses caused by the airstrike.

The army, led by General Khalifa Haftar, has been launching a military campaign against terrorism and crime in the south since mid-January.

The army announced making significant progress and declared the region a no-fly zone indefinitely.

The army is allied with the eastern-based government, as the country is politically divided between two governments in the east and the west, both competing for legitimacy.
