LUSAKA, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Zambia and Israel intend to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at promoting cooperation in the management of national parks, a Zambian minister said on Tuesday.
Minister of Tourism and Arts Charles Banda said Zambia looks forward to learning from Israel's expertise in nature conservation and use of technology to fight poaching.
The minister made the remarks when he met Director-General of the Israeli Nature and Parks Authority Shaul Goldstein on the sidelines of the International Mediterranean Tourism Market Fair currently underway in Israel, according to a release by the ministry.
The minister said the MOU would include preservation of cultural heritage sites and packaging them as tourism products, training local people to be tour guides, technical support for capacity building and handling human-wildlife conflicts.
On his part, the Israel official said a delegation from his department will travel to Zambia in September this year to meet their Zambian counterparts to discuss the MOU terms and conclude the process if possible.
