KIGALI, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- At least 109 cases of corruption involving Rwandan judicial officials have been reported since 2018 to date, Rwanda's Chief Justice Sam Rugege said Friday.
The figures showed that more people have come out and reported graft-related cases due to awareness campaigns, Rugege said at the closure of the judiciary anti-corruption week in Nyagatare district in eastern Rwanda.
The judiciary's stance on corruption is zero tolerance, he said.
According to him, around 560 judicial employees were tried for corruption from 2017 to 2018, of which 365 were penalized after being found guilty.
The anti-corruption week was launched on Monday with a focus on raising awareness about the danger of corruption in undermining justice.
