NEW YORK, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks closed higher on Tuesday as investors digested the latest corporate earnings reports as well as major economic data.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 8.07 points, or 0.03 percent, to 25,891.32. The S&P 500 increased 4.16 points, or 0.15 percent, to 2,779.76. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 14.36 points, or 0.19 percent, to 7,486.77.
Walmart reported quarterly adjusted earnings per share of 1.41 U.S. dollars and revenue of 138.8 billion dollars.
Shares of the Dow component rose 2.21 percent to close at 102.20 dollars apiece.
On the economic front, homebuilder sentiment rises as interest rates stay in check. The housing market index went up 4 points to 62 in February, according to the monthly survey from the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index.
