KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- At least eight militants were killed and eight others injured after the government forces launched operations in Miwand district of the southern Kandahar province, an army statement said on Wednesday.
The government launched cleanup operations in parts of Miwand district on Tuesday and so far eight insurgents have been killed and eight others injured, the statement added.
Neither civilians nor security personnel have been hurt in the ongoing operations, the statement asserted.
Taliban militants haven't commented on the report.
