Alleged member of IS-linked group arrested in Indonesia

JAKARTA, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian police has nabbed a man who is an alleged member of a terrorist group that loyal to the IS terrorist group in Syria, national police spokesman Brig. General Dedi Prasetyo disclosed here on Thursday.

Andalus aias Abu Hilwa was captured in Temanggung of Central Java province on Feb. 14 when the police were carrying out a raid on motorcycles and cars, the spokesman revealed.

He said that Andalus is an alleged member of Jemaah Anshorut Daulah (JAD), which an Indonesian court has said that it had been proven of having loyalty to the IS terrorist group.

The spokesman said that Andalus has been long hunted by police in terrorism case.

In his car, Prasetyo said, the police seized books containing radicalism.

Last month an Indonesian court handed down a death sentence to the leader of the JAD group Aman Abdurrahman for inciting suicide strikes, including an attack in the Starbuck cafe and a police station in the heart of Indonesia's capital in January 2016.
