KAMPALA, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's midfielder Yasser Mugerwa has moved to Ethiopian Premier League side Shire Endaselassie Football Club.

The Club, established in 2012 and joined the National League system in 2013-14, was promoted to the Ethiopian Premier League last year.

"I have decided to leave Fasil Kenema FC also in the Ethiopian Premier League to join Shire FC on a one-year contract. I had five months on my contract to expire and I decided to make a move to have another challenge," Mugerwa told Xinhua on Monday.

Mugerwa said he wants to play a big part for the new club in the Premier League, and improve his chances of national squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Mugerwa played for URA FC in the Uganda Premier League before heading to South Africa in 2016 and later to Ethiopia with St. George FC.

Mugerwa together with Chrizestom Ntambi and goalkeeper Robert Ondonkara are the other Uganda players playing in Ethiopia.
