PRAGUE, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Prague city councilors Monday decided to provide free public transport during the time of the smog situation as a measure to fight against air pollution.
The measure will cover all kinds of transport, including trains, the city council said in a statement, adding that the city wants to introduce "the public transport for free" even at the mildest level of smog warning.
The costs of that for one day are estimated at 5 million Czech crowns (221,315 U.S. dollars).
Smog in Prague comes mainly from transport and from local heaters. So the City Hall is also preparing a decree limiting heating by solid fuels.
The latest of smog situation in Prague was reported in last August, according to the Czech Hydro-meteorological Institute, which is engaged in the announcement of smog situation.
Averagely, Prague would have five to seven days of smog situation of degree one in a year.
