KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- A total of 202 police cadets joined the National Police in the southern Kandahar province after a two-month training course, director of Police Training Center in the province Alam Gul said Thursday.

All the newly graduated police personnel, according to the official, would be deployed in parts of Kandahar, the birthplace of the Taliban militants to stabilize local security.

More than 1,000 youths have received training in the police training center over the past year in Kandahar, the official said, adding that some 3,500 cadets were under training in the center in the restive province.
