U.S. daily natural gas production reaches record high in December 2018: EIA

HOUSTON, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in a report on Thursday that the U.S. average daily rate of dry natural gas production for December was the highest for any month since EIA began tracking the figure in 1973.

According to the organization, for the 20th consecutive month, U.S. dry natural gas production increased year to year in December 2018. The preliminary level for dry natural gas production in December 2018 was 2,746 billion cubic feet (Bcf), or 88.6 Bcf per day (Bcf/d). This level was 11.5 percent higher than the December 2017 level.

The estimated U.S. natural gas consumption level in December 2018 was 2,970 Bcf, or 95.8 Bcf/d. This level was 3.1 percent lower than the level in December 2017. Natural gas consumption for December was the second-highest level for the month since 2001.

EIA said that year-over-year total consumption of dry natural gas in December 2018 decreased in all four consuming sectors, namely residential deliveries, commercial deliveries, commercial deliveries and Electric power deliveries.
