KASHMIR-SRINAGAR-SECURITY LOCKDOWN

An Indian paramilitary trooper stands guard during a security lockdown in downtown area of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir, March 1, 2019. The Indian government has banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) in Indian-controlled Kashmir for five years, government officials said Friday. The ban was issued by India's home ministry on Thursday evening declaring the organization as an "unlawful association" under a government directive. JeI is a socio-religious organization operating in the region. Meanwhile, authorities Friday imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar city and southern Anantnag district fearing protests. The high speed internet service was also suspended. (Xinhua/Javed Dar)
