HANOI, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's top legislator Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan agreed on Tuesday with her Lao counterpart Pany Yathotou to maintain high-level exchange of visits so as to strengthen partnership between the parliaments of the two countries.

During their talks in Hanoi, Ngan and Yathotou agreed that the two legislative bodies will strengthen the supervision over the implementation of signed agreements between the two governments, ministries and sectors, including deals inked during a recent visit to Laos by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President Nguyen Phu Trong, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

The two top legislators also discussed the joint supervision over the implementation of an agreement on the settlement of free migration and undocumented marriage in border areas of Vietnam and Laos in 2019.

Ngan suggested that the two sides work closely to facilitate the partnership among border localities of Vietnam and Laos, ensuring border security and managing migrants in border areas.

She also proposed a joint working group to monitor activities of border gates between Vietnam and Laos to remove obstacles for bilateral trade.

Also on Tuesday, Vietnamese President Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with Yathotou, respectively.
