SEOUL, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Top nuclear envoys of South Korea and the United States held talks in Washington about the affairs related to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Seoul's foreign ministry said here on Thursday.
Lee Do-hoon, special representative for Korean Peninsula peace and security affairs, met Wednesday in Washington with Stephen Biegun, U.S. special representative for the DPRK.
During the meeting, the two diplomats exchanged opinion and discussed follow-up measures on the second summit between top DPRK leader Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump in Hanoi, Vietnam last week.
Lee and Biegun shared a view that the current situation after the second DPRK-U.S. summit would be very sensitive in advancing future talks between the DPRK and the United States, yet they agreed to keep close consultation and discussed ways to resume the DPRK-U.S. talks at an early date, the foreign ministry said.
After the bilateral meeting, Lee and Biegun had a working lunch joined by Japan's chief nuclear envoy, Kenji Kanasugi, according to the ministry.
