CAIRO, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi received on Monday an invitation from Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to take part in the G20 summit due on June 28 and 29 in Japan's Osaka.

Sisi received the invitation during a meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Egypt, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement.

The invitation reflects Egypt's position in Africa in the light of its current presidency of the African Union, the spokesman added.

Starting in 1999, the G20 is the premier forum for its members' international economic cooperation and decision-making. Its membership comprises 19 countries and the European Union.
