KHARTOUM, March 17 (Xinhua) -- A visiting U.S. congress delegation on Sunday said Sudan has made progress in the field of public freedom.

The U.S. congress delegation on Sunday held talks with leaders of the Sudanese National Assembly in Khartoum.

"I was very pleased in seeing that people here in Sudan have the right to worship," said Gus M. Bilirakis, leader of the Freedoms Bloc at the U.S. Congress, also head of the delegation.

Bilirakis, further, commended Sudan's cooperation with his country in field of combating terrorism.

Speaker of the Sudanese parliament Ibrahim Ahmed Omer stressed importance of the visit of the U.S. congressional delegation to Sudan.

The U.S. congressional delegation began on Saturday meetings with Sudanese government officials and opposition leaders.
