PHNOM PENH, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Tuesday was bestowed with an honorary doctorate of philosophy in political communication from Thailand's Krirk University.
Krirk University's president Krasae Chanawongse presented the degree upon him at a ceremony here, attended by his family members and hundreds of high-profile figures.
Speaking at the event, Hun Sen expressed thanks to the university for honoring his effort in serving the nation and the Cambodian people.
"The pride I have today is the pride of the Cambodian people because my effort is for the cause of my beloved nation and compatriots," he said. "The honorary doctorate of philosophy in political communication that I receive today is really meaningful for me and the Cambodian people."
Krasae said the degree was awarded to the prime minister for leading Cambodia from a war-torn nation to a peaceful and stable one.
