The Sino-Africa Joint Research Center (SAJOREC), a talent cultivation and scientific research institute, was established in 2013 and covers some 40 acres of land. The Chinese Academy of Sciences has equipped SAJOREC to enhance its capacity to implement joint research projects. Since its establishment, 48 joint research projects focusing on biodiversity investigation, pathogenic microorganism detection, geographic science and remote sensing, high yield and high quality crop cultivation demonstration and land and water resource management have been undertaken. Based at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) of Kenya, SAJOREC has built long-term cooperation relationship with over 20 universities and scientific research institutions in more than 10 countries in Africa.
