RABAT, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Five Israeli citizens have been arrested for their alleged involvement in obtaining Moroccan identity documents and passports through falsification, Morocco's police said in a statement on Saturday.

The arrest of the five suspects is part of an ongoing probe into the criminal network led by a Moroccan of Jewish faith, which was detained in early March after being suspected of the involvement in the falsification of Moroccan identity documents for the benefit of the Jewish citizens of non-Moroccan origin, the statement said.

The initial investigation revealed that two of the five foreigners are subjected to Interpol Red Notices for their arrest and extradition internationally, the statement said, noting that one of them is suspected of being involved in intentional killings, while the other is linked with international drug trafficking networks.

The statement said that search operations carried out at homes rented by the suspects resulted in the seizure of the falsified documents, large sums of money in Moroccan and foreign currency, a quantity of cannabis and electronic devices.

The suspects were held in police custody for investigation, the statement said.

On March 7, the Moroccan police announced that they had arrested 10 suspects as part of the busting of a criminal network suspected of falsifying official documents to enable Israelis to obtain the Moroccan nationality and ID.
