YANGON, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar armed forces have been ambushed by ethnic insurgent group the Arakan Army (AA) in Yathedaung township, Rakhine state, and three AA members were killed in the clash, the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services said on Sunday.

In Friday's two incidents, the military column conducted security operation near Yaygaungchaung village and was attacked by dozens of the AA militants.

The AA group also launched a similar attack on another military column from five positions north of Setaung village on Thursday night, leaving two government troops injured.

In a separate incident earlier on Wednesday, two masked men from the AA raided a civilian house in Myebon township of the state, killing a sleeping villager.

On Monday, the AA insurgent attacked a military convoy which was carrying out security operation and a local district police office in Mrauk U township, Rakhine state, from inside civilian houses.

The AA group has been blamed for taking cover in wards and villages in the state, shooting and planting landmines against the armed forces.
