DUBAI, March 26 (Xinhua) -- After U.S. President Donald Trump signed a proclamation recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, condemnation has come from the Middle East countries.
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain condemned on Tuesday Trump's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
Saudi Arabia expresses its firm rejection and condemnation of the U.S. administration's declaration on Israel's sovereignty over the territory it seized from Syria in 1967 and later annexed in a move never recognized by the international community, said a government statement issued by the Saudi Press Agency.
Also, the UAE said the move "puts at risk the chances to reach a comprehensive peace in the region," in a statement issued by the government published on the Emirates News Agency website.
"No stability and peace will be achieved in the region with Israel's continuation of the occupation of the Palestinian and Arab territories," the statement added.
"The Golan Heights is an occupied territory and the U.S. administration's decision will not affect this fact," said the statement.
Bahrain's Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its position that Golan Heights is an Arab and Syrian territory, occupied by Israel since June 1967, which is confirmed by the resolutions of the UN Security Council, the ministry said.
