WASHINGTON, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Four of the five inmates who escaped from a prison in southern U.S. state North Carolina by forcing through a hole in a fence in the exercise yard were in custody Tuesday morning, the authorities said.

The inmates, all the male aged from 23 to 30, escaped from the Nash County Detention Center at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, said Sheriff Keith Stone.

They were being monitored by a camera in the yard and Stone said it was possible that they knew they were in a camera's blind spot, according to a NBC report.

The fifth prisoner, identified as 23-year-old Laquaris Rashad Battle, remained at large, said the report.

Their charges range from possession of a stolen vehicle to assault by strangulation and drug possession.
