GABORONE, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Ten Botswana students are scheduled to start their information communication technology (ICT) training in China on April 8 through Huawei's Seeds for the Future ICT talent training program.

Speaking at the Seeds for the Future and Huawei ICT Competition 2019 award ceremony, which was held on Tuesday evening in Gaborone, capital of Botswana, Dorcas Makgato, Botswana Minister for Transport and Communications, said the students can be said to be the leaders of the time to come.

Makgato said the opportunity to travel to China will give students the chance to see and experience how technology is developed, adding they will return to build Botswana into an internationally competitive nation and economy.

Makgato applauded Huawei and the Chinese embassy for their efforts to develop Botswana's human capital.

In endorsing Huawei's efforts, Zhao Yanbo, the Chinese Ambassador to Botswana, reiterated his confidence that Huawei will continue to do more work to benefit communities.

In doing so, Zhao said Huawei will be setting a good example for Chinese companies in Botswana.

The 10 students who will spend three weeks in China are from the University of Botswana, Botho University and Botswana International University of Science and Technology.

In China, the students will participate in various forms of ICT trainings in line with the Chinese culture lessons in their stay in Beijing and Shenzhen.

According to Ren Fujun, Managing Director of Huawei Botswana, since entering Botswana market in 1998, Huawei has grown significantly to become a leading ICT solution provider through more than 20 years development in the country.

While developing itself, Huawei also attaches great importance to giving back to the local society in Botswana, Ren said.
