LUSAKA, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's year-on-year inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) saw a slight slowdown in March, statistics agency said on Thursday.

The annual inflation rate was down by 0.3 percentage points to 7.5 percent in March, according to figures released by the Central Statistical Office (CSO).

Goodson Sinyenga, the CSO's acting director of census and statistics, attributed the decrease mainly to a reduction in prices of petrol and diesel.

Meanwhile, due to price changes in food and non-alcoholic beverages, the country's month-on-month inflation increased to 1.1 percent in March, 0.4 percentage points higher compared with that of the previous month, Sinyenga told reporters.
