KHARTOUM, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Partial electricity outage hit areas in Sudan on Sunday, according to Sudan's Ministry of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity.

"On April 7, 2019, a partial power outage occurred in the national grid at 3:15 p.m. local time due to emergency breakdown in the carrying line," Ibrahim Yassin Shaklawi, spokesman of the Ministry of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity, said in a statement.

"The breakdown resulted in a gradual exit of all generating stations which feed the national grid," he noted.

He further explained that the states which are not connected to the national grid have not been affected by the power outage.

He stressed that the electricity power would be gradually restored, saying "the engineering and technical personnel are exerting intensive efforts to restore the power to all states within the coming hours."

Since January 2018, the power blackout phenomenon has been reoccurring in Sudan.
