Traffic accident kills 11 in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 (Xinhua) -- A bus carrying foreign workers contracted to the MASKargo, the cargo arm of Malaysia Airlines (MAS), plunged into a drain near the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), killing 11 people, authorities said Monday.

KLIA district police chief Zulkifli Adamshah said the incident which happened late Sunday also claimed the life of the Malaysian driver apart from 10 foreign workers, while many others were injured.

Six died on the scene when the bus plunged into the 20-meter deep drain, including the bus driver, while others died at nearby hospitals, according to state news agency Bernama.

Zulkifli said the workers were being ferried from their hostel in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan state, to their work place when the crash occurred.

Police were still investigating the cause of the accident, he added.
