TASHKENT, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will personally control the implementation of 27 major strategic projects worth 3.6 billion U.S. dollars in foreign investment in 2019, president's press service said on Tuesday.

Mirziyoyev proposed introducing a new system to control the development of the projects involving foreign direct investments and international financial institutions during a government meeting.

All the projects will be divided into four groups to be monitored separately to ensure their timely realization.

The first group which will be directly monitored by Mirziyoyev includes 27 projects, while the prime minister will personally oversee the second group with 65 major projects worth 1.3 billion dollars.

Deputy prime ministers will control the third group with 65 projects and the fourth group is assigned to the heads of central government agencies and mayors of the regions.

"It is necessary to establish strong ties with foreign investors who have expressed a desire to work in Uzbekistan and help them from the beginning to the end of the project, in other words, to lead them by the hand and ensure the result," Mirziyoyev was quoted as saying.

The Uzbek government's Investment Program for 2019 plans to implement 3,200 projects worth 14 billion dollars.

President Mirziyoyev has been carrying out a range of economic reforms to make the Central Asian country attractive to foreign investors since he came to power in 2016.
