KHARTOUM, April 11 (Xinhua) -- The Sudanese Armed Forces on Thursday issued a statement warning against non-compliance with the declared curfew from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. local time which becomes effective as of Thursday.

The army urged the citizens not to violate the curfew for their safety concern.

It called on the citizens to cooperate to enable the armed forces and the security committee to perform their duty in keeping security, public safety and properties.

Earlier on Thursday, Sudan's Defence Minister Awad Mohamed Ahmed Ibn Auf announced the ousting of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and his government.

He further declared a state of emergency for three months and a curfew for one month.

Ibn Auf said that a military council would be formed to run the country during a transitional period of two years.

He also announced suspension of the interim constitution of the Republic of Sudan, and closure of the Sudanese air space for 24 hours together with border passages all over Sudan until further notice.
