TOKYO, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally higher Tuesday as despite Wall Street losing ground overnight, communication-linked issues rose after NTT Docomo said Monday it would slash its fees by up to 40 percent.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 45.90 points, or 0.21 percent, from Monday to 22,215.01.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged 0.46 point, or 0.03 percent higher, at 1,628.39.
Information and communication, electric appliance and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
