NEW DELHI, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu Tuesday called for a review of issues related to beleaguered Jet Airways.

Issues of increasing fares and flight cancellations were highlighted in the statement issued by the minister.

He has also issued instructions for safety and protection of passenger rights.

Jet Airways, an Indian domestic airline, is currently grappling with acute financial crisis. The airline is operating less than 10 planes besides temporarily suspending international operations.

The board of directors of the debt-ridden airline met on Tuesday to discuss the future course of action after a promised 216 million U.S. dollars fund infusion to keep the airline afloat was not released by the lenders.

Employees of the airline have staged protests demanding the payment of their salaries.
