SOFIA, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and his visiting Georgian counterpart Mamuka Bakhtadze here on Tuesday expressed willingness to expand the ferry services and improve digital connectivity between their countries.

"Georgia and Bulgaria are connected geographically -- the Black Sea builds a natural bridge between us, offering unique opportunities and bearing huge potential that we are committed to exploit, especially in the field of transport," Bakhtadze said after the talks.

Bakhtadze added that he and Borissov devoted particular attention to the prospects of further development of ferry connections between seaports of Georgia and Bulgaria.

Bakhtadze said he was very optimistic that in a very near future the two countries would be able to announce the creation of a new digital corridor connecting Bulgaria with Georgia and therefore connecting the east with the west.

Borissov said that Georgia was an important partner of his country on the other side of the Black Sea.

On ferry transport between the two countries, Borissov said that currently two ferries have traveled between the ports of the two countries per week. "Our ambition is to have two per day," he said.

As to the digital infrastructure, Borissov said Bulgaria and Georgia wanted to lay a data transmission cable between them. It would give the opportunity to the whole Caucasus region on internet use, he said.
