BEIRUT, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin slammed on Wednesday the U.S. sanctions on some countries, local media reported.

"What bothers us in Lebanon are the sanctions imposed by the United States which we consider as harmful whether for Russia, Iran, Turkey, Hezbollah or Lebanon," Zasypkin was quoted as saying by Elnashra, an online independent newspaper.

Zasypkin said that Russia does not accept this behavior while it welcomes any cooperation with all authorities in Lebanon.

The ambassador added that Russia's policy towards peace negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis is consistent, contrary to the American policy.

"Russia's role in Syria is very important and it creates balance facing U.S. policy in the region," he said.
