TOKYO, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Japan's Nissan Motor Co. said Tuesday that its Executive Vice President Daniele Schillaci will formally be dismissed on May 15, becoming the latest executive to step down with the ongoing scandal of former Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn.
The company said that Schillaci is going to leave Nissan "to pursue an opportunity closer to his native home in Europe."
Employed by Ghosn from Toyota Motor Corp. in 2015, Schillaci is also in charge of Asia and Oceania operations and the electric vehicle business.
Schillaci is one of the latest executives considered close to Ghosn who was dismissed from the company as chairman due to charges of financial misconducts at the automaker.
Jose Munoz, Nissan's former executive in charge of China's operations, stepped down in January, while Arun Bajaj, former senior vice president in charge of human resources, also resigned in March. The latter was involved in Nissan's internal investigation into Ghosn's alleged misconducts which resulted in his arrest.
Board member Toshiyuki Shiga, former chief operating officer, has also said that he will step down, pending approval at the shareholders' meeting in June.
