Body of Bangladeshi victim in Sri Lanka bombings flown home

DHAKA, April 24 (Xinhua) -- The body of an eight-year-old Bangladeshi boy who was killed in the multiple bombings in Sri Lanka was flown back home on Wednesday.

Zayan Chowdhury was among the 359 people who died in the blasts that tore through churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.

A Sri Lankan Airlines flight landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 12:42 p.m. local time Wednesday carrying Zayan's body.

He was having breakfast with his father at the restaurant of a hotel in Colombo when the explosion occurred. His father was injured in the bombing.

Zayan's mother and younger brother were in their hotel room when the blast rocked the hotel.

Thousands of people gathered at a stadium in capital Dhaka for Namaz-e-Janaza (funeral prayer) on Wednesday evening.
