KHARTOUM, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Deputy Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC) Mohamed Hamdan Daqlu on Wednesday announced the start of paying part of Sudan's foreign debts.
Daqlu made the announcement during a meeting Wednesday with a delegation of the Sudanese Businessmen and Employers Federation.
"We have started paying the country's external debts and brought a new line for the currency printing press," Daqlu told the meeting.
He added that the printing of the national currency is progressing well to solve the cash crisis and restore the trust to the banking system soon so that the withdrawal processes would return to the way it used to be.
Daqlu reiterated the TMC's readiness to hand over the power to a civilian government, saying "the TMC is ready to hand over the power to the youth if they are ready."
The TMC is tasked with running the country's affairs following the ouster of President Omar al-Bashir.
