SKOPJE, April 24 (Xinhua) -- North Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev announced Wednesday that he will reshuffle his cabinet after the second round of presidential elections following the low turnout of voters in the first round held on Sunday.
"Dissatisfied voters have definitely sent the message that they are disappointed by certain government officials, by certain policies and that must be changed," Zaev said at a press conference.
Zaev said that the government has received the message of the voters and we will surely react.
The prime minister said that he will reshuffle the cabinet after the presidential elections, without revealing the names of the ministers that would be replaced.
According to Zaev, the name issue of North Macedonia and Prespa Agreement with Greece are not the reason of the unfulfilled expected results in the first round of presidential elections.
Meanwhile, Zaev called on the voters to give a chance to the country and go out to vote in the presidential runoff for the elections to be successful.
Zaev voiced confidence that the elections will succeed and the concept of the governing coalition candidate Stevo Pendarovski will win against his rival backed by the main opposition VMRO-DPMNE Party Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.
According to analysts, the low turnout in Sunday's voting is due to voter fatigue, dispute over voter lists and disappointment at the government's failure to reduce high unemployment rate and fulfill the promises to secure more foreign investment in the country.
Some 1.8 million voters were eligible to cast their ballots in Sunday's first round of presidential elections in North Macedonia. A second round is scheduled for May 5 as none of the three candidates managed to win the majority of votes on Sunday.
