KHARTOUM, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's major opposition alliance on Thursday decided to postpone announcement of its candidates for a civilian government.

"Based on the developments and what has been agreed on regarding the coming steps with the Transitional Military Council (TMC), the Freedom and Change Alliance decided to delay the announcement of its candidates for the transitional civilian government," said the alliance in a statement.

The alliance reiterated its willingness to reach a comprehensive agreement with the TMC that paves the way for announcing all levels of the transitional civilian authority.

The statement further described the meeting, held Wednesday, between the TMC and representatives of the alliance as "a step towards building confidence between the two sides."

It added that the two sides agreed during the meeting to form a joint committee to discuss outstanding issues of difference.

Last Sunday, the alliance announced suspension of negotiation with the TMC, demanding relieving of the three members of the political committee.

On Wednesday, the TMC announced that three members of the council's political committee had turned in their resignations.

The TMC is tasked with running the country's affairs following the ouster of President Omar al-Bashir.
