NEW DELHI, April 27 (Xinhua) -- The Indian government Saturday issued a travel advisory to its citizens urging them to avoid non-essential travel to Sri Lanka in view of the recent serial bombings that killed over 250 people, including 10 Indians.
"In view of the prevailing security situation in Sri Lanka in the aftermath of terror attacks last Sunday (April 21, 2019), Indian nationals intending to travel to Sri Lanka are advised not to undertake non-essential travel," a statement issued by Indian foreign ministry said.
However, the ministry said those undertaking emergency travels to the island nation can contact Indian foreign ministry officials.
The ministry said the government of Sri Lanka has beefed up security in the country. A nationwide emergency including night time curfew is in place at present which may also affect travel within Sri Lanka.
