ACCRA, April 29 (Xinhua) -- The China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has the potential to play a pioneering role in global trade facilitation and development, said Franklin Cudjoe, executive president of policy think tank IMANI Ghana.

Describing the initiative as " massive, innovative and pioneering", Cudjo said China is now taking action to fulfill the promises.

In a recent interview with Xinhua, he said that the development of infrastructure under the BRI has facilitated the delivery of goods and services since it has helped cut down on transportation costs, adding that these benefits will be far-reaching.

Cudjo said he is hopeful that all the countries that have signed the BRI cooperation documents with China will see the benefits.

He said he is looking forward to more fruitful results from the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, which was held last week in Beijing, China.
