MOSCOW, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Four ships of the Russian Northern Fleet have entered the Sea of Japan en route to Russia's port city of Vladivostok, the fleet said on Tuesday.
Frigate Admiral Gorshkov, rescue tug Nikolai Chiker, multifunctional logistics vessel Elbrus and sea tanker Kama will arrive in Vladivostok on Wednesday to take part in the festivities for the 74th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany on May 9.
The naval group, which set out from Russia's Severomorsk on Feb. 26, will continue their long-distance voyage after the celebrations in Vladivostok, home port of Russia's Pacific Fleet.
Moscow and Tokyo have failed to sign a peace treaty following World War II due to their rival claims to four Pacific islands.
There is no sign that they could settle the disputes in the near future, and Russia has stepped up military presence in the region.
