WARSAW, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Poland supports Georgia in its efforts to join the European Union (EU) and NATO, Polish President Andrzej Duda said here Tuesday.

"This is the ambition that Georgia has had for years," Duda said, referring to the potential EU and NATO membership of the country, during a joint press conference in Warsaw with visiting Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili.

"In the difficult environment in which it finds itself, Georgia knows that it can rely on and trust in every respect of its friend, Poland," Zurabishvili said at the press conference.

Zurabishvili, who took office in December 2018, is in Poland for a three-day visit.
