LONDON, May 17 (Xinhua) -- British online food delivery company Deliveroo announced Friday that it is getting a 575 million U.S. dollars fundraising led by online giant Amazon, which was set to be the largest investor in the latest round event.

Deliveroo said the fresh investment would be focused on expanding tech team, broadening new customers reach, and boosting its delivery-only kitchens "Editions".

The fundraising brought the total Deliveroo has raised to date to 1.53 billion U.S. dollars.

According to Deliveroo, the new investment will be completed in the coming months, subjected to customary regulatory approvals.

"This is great news for the tech and restaurant sectors, and it will help to create jobs in all of the countries in which we operate," Shu said.

Doug Gurr, UK Country manager of Amazon, said that "we're impressed with Deliveroo's approach, and their dedication to providing customers with an ever increasing selection of great restaurants along with convenient delivery options."
