TOKYO, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks rose Wednesday morning following Wall Street's positive overnight lead, but gains were trimmed amid continued concerns over the future course of the global economy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 71.60 points, or 0.34 percent, from Tuesday to 21,344.05.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged 0.75 points, or 0.05 percent, higher at 1,551.05.
Nonferrous metal, mining, and farm and fishery-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
