YANGON, May 25 (Xinhua) -- The pilot and crew of the state-run Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) were bestowed by Myanmar's State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi and selected for monthly gratitude honor to the people for May for safe emergency landing in an accident earlier this month.

According to the Gratitude Letter to the Public of the Office of the State Counselor issued on Friday, Captain Myat Moe Aung and six crew were praised for making sound decisions based on experience, expertise and composure while piloting the aircraft as well as for carrying out the proper emergency rescue procedures to ensure the safety of the passengers.

On May 12, an Embraer 190 model MNA airliner with flight No. UB-103 made an emergency landing at Mandalay’s Tada-U International Airport on its way from Yangon to Mandalay, the second largest city in the central part of Myanmar, touching down safely using only its rear wheels as its front landing gear failed to deploy.

All 82 passengers and seven crew members were safe after the attempt.
