ISTANBUL, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Turkish prosecutors on Tuesday issued arrest warrants for 101 people across the country, mostly soldiers, over their alleged links to a network believed to be behind a coup bid in 2016, local media reported.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office ordered the arrest of 74 suspects, including 32 soldiers on active duty, for their suspected "infiltration" into the Turkish Armed Forces, the state-run Anadolu Agency said.
Colonels, lieutenant colonels and commanders are among those targeted in the operations, Anadolu said.
Meanwhile, prosecutors in the southern Adana province ordered the detention of 27 soldiers, among them 20 on active duty, the agency said.
Turkish police launched simultaneous operations in at least 18 provinces to catch the suspects, said Anadolu.
Ankara blames Fethullah Gulen, a U.S.-based Turkish cleric, and his network for the July 2016 coup attempt, in which 250 people were killed.
